Getting my Christmas pics up before the new year a Getting my Christmas pics up before the new year arrives 🎄✨
This was the week before Christmas when we went up to the Northern Sinfonia concert and made a visit to Fenwick’s Christmas window display. This year’s theme was A Christmas Carol which was really well done. I loved the scene where Scrooge is being flown over the town by the ghost of yet to come. And we spotted our own living room fireplace tiling surround in the Crachit household. 😂

Sometimes Christmas is a strange old one. I’d be Sometimes Christmas is a strange old one. I’d been reflecting on how this time ten years ago we were facing Dad’s last Christmas. And here we were, facing another abnormal Christmas with Mum being hospitalised. It’s hard doing the festivities when all is not well with the folks. Thankfully we were still at least able to go see Mum on her ward so we took her presents in to her. A few hours later we were on to my sister’s house. We opened presents, ate yummy festive food and wished Mum was home. Despite all this, Reuben was glad to see his cousins. It wasn’t normal but Christmas was had. 🎄

We found an über festive cake shop. 🍰 Full on We found an über festive cake shop. 🍰 Full on Christmas vibes and seriously good patisserie delights! 🤤

We decided to go to church’s second Christmas special service over in Barnard Castle and had a little time beforehand for a bit of shopping and go for a hot chocolate. And cakes too it transpired. Reuben chose a Bounty cake, Sean went for an apricot and mango cake and I got the fun (and yummy) Rudolph eclair. It’s nice to find new little gems. 😊

Is everyone managing to find moments to chill out this crazy week? 🎄

Well this week was fun! 🤩 ✨ I won a night out Well this week was fun! 🤩 ✨ I won a night out to see the Royal Northern Sinfonia at the Glasshouse (formerly the Sage) in Gateshead followed by a stay at @innside_by_melia_uk hotel across the Tyne on Newcastle’s side of the quayside. So that’s what we did!

The Christmas concert was presented by tv’s Matt Baker and was AMAZING. The orchestra and choirs were so good. My favourite pieces were the Polar Express suite (the instrumental What Christmas Means to Me is so precious), Troika! They played Troika! (LONGtime fave) Loved that there was some John Rutter and the singalong songs were so fun. Honestly, goosebumps were out.

It was fun and games with our hotel stay though, because we almost didn’t have our bed for the night! 😱 Turned out the hotel room hadn’t been booked for us and we were technically on the streets with our suitcases. Actual nightmare. And we ended up with no time for dinner so we didn’t eat until nearly midnight, trekking up into the toon in my heels, in the rain, almost crying. LOL. (Love a bit of drama me 😆) Luckily the hotel had a cancellation and our night was saved. The room was super nice and the bed was insanely comfy. Followed it up with the first ‘Spoons breakfast of my life and I was impressed. So we had a lot of fun this week. Oh and Reuben ended up scoring the last day of school off because of car trouble. Happy Christmas Chaos! 🤪🤣
