8 Phrases You Need To Stop Saying To Parents

April 16, 2018

Good advice is great.  Who doesn’t appreciate advice at some point in their life?  Sound advice comes in many forms; expert opinion from professionals like your GP, or wise words coming from experienced family and friends who’ve been there before, offering invaluable knowledge to get […]

10 Realities I Never Expected As A Newly Made Mum

July 18, 2017

When you imagine what something may be like, you can generally guess and have a good idea of the experience.  Like having a baby.  Labour will be somewhat painful, baby will pop out one way or another, and you’ll go home – right?  Let’s just say when it came […]

Post Pregnancy Body Confidence | Loving, Not Loathing, The Lumps

June 17, 2017

We women aren’t so good with being kind to ourselves and body confidence isn’t something we’re that comfortable with.  I’m guilty of it:  I’ve lost count of the times I’ve moaned about my legs looking nasty, and the cellulite jiggle on my thighs.  Feeling good about […]

10 Reasons Why I Miss Being Pregnant

April 23, 2017

When I first became pregnant I couldn’t wait to grow a bump.  Giving birth to a real baby was a far off destination and I was worry-free and excited for the future.  But it seemed that once the journey got into full swing, pregnancy started […]

Group B Strep And The Strepelle DIY Test Kit

February 8, 2017

If pregnancy doesn’t come with enough reasons to worry the whole nine months long, it turns out there’s another one to add to the list.  Your midwife has probably never mentioned it, the NHS doesn’t routinely test you for it, but it’s one of the […]

The Maternity Bra: The Pregnancy Purchase Your Boobs Will Thank You For

January 12, 2017

Pregnancy changes things, your breasts being one (or two) of them.  While everything’s focussed on the little life inside you, there’s just as much going on in the bra department.  In fact, even before your bump has begun surfacing, most likely your boobs are already looking different, […]

Inferiority-Popularity Complex | Blogger Problems

November 12, 2015

I wrote this piece about a month ago, that I later decided I wouldn’t post.  This is what I’m like: writing is my therapy.  I go through phases of emotions and big life questioning that I’ll get over and may or may not revisit.  I call it ‘life lethargy’. […]

The Full Bust Market : Is It Big Enough?

May 19, 2015

In recent times, the full bust market has really come into its own.  Big bra shopping is no longer the realm of the specialist mail order company and it’s pretty normal to pick up a G cup with your grocery shop.  But while buying lingerie for the larger bust […]

Are Large Cups Losing Out to Sexy Smalls?

February 15, 2015

The full bust market today is a far cry from the era when big bras meant granny chic.  Its easy to forget how far we’ve come; from specialist catalogues with their limited sizes where full cups meant large bands too, D+ lingerie is now commonplace in […]

Why Your New Year Resolutions Aren’t The Healthiest of To-Do Lists

January 4, 2015

When January comes around it’s a renewing feeling that everything starts afresh with the new year.  With its bracing mid Winter winds blowing the cobwebs and glitter away from the end of year festivities, it couldn’t come sooner. As satisfying as it is – snuggling down in blankets […]

Lonely This Christmas And No Comfort & Joy

December 16, 2014

Christmas comes but once a year – and thank heavens for that. Don’t get me wrong, I’m a festive fanatic!  I love all the commercialism and ceremony that Christmas is; the music (I play too early), the baking (even earlier) and the mesmeric delight in driving […]

Here’s something you may bump into me doing… b Here’s something you may bump into me doing… bargain shopping, charity shopping, thrift hauling, call it what you will. I love the thrill of shopping, always on the hunt for silly prices and getting a deal with a little “squee” dance when it hits the sweet spot.

Who else loves bargain shopping? 🛍️

Did this back in December in the run up to Christmas, when we went to Belsay Hall in Northumberland. There’s still time to do it if you haven’t, as the awesome sheepies are there til the 26th January 2026. It’s a really nice walk around Belsay’s gardens so worth a visit.

So which do you think looks the best one? I love the gingerbread Shaun and the gardener Shaun because it has some lovely little bugs all over him. 🐞

2026 is here ✨ This wasn’t today though. Thi 2026 is here ✨

This wasn’t today though. This was the last day of 2025 (yesterday) but it was just as cold. It was a frosty day and we ended up playing with the ice in the frozen ponds at Fountains Abbey. Just breaking it up, smashing it through with twigs and releasing air bubbles. Didn’t actually see the abbey. Just played with ice. Most unexpected fun ever. 😄

This was the week before Christmas when we went up to the Northern Sinfonia concert and made a visit to Fenwick’s Christmas window display. This year’s theme was A Christmas Carol which was really well done. I loved the scene where Scrooge is being flown over the town by the ghost of yet to come. And we spotted our own living room fireplace tiling surround in the Crachit household. 😂

Sometimes Christmas is a strange old one. I’d be Sometimes Christmas is a strange old one. I’d been reflecting on how this time ten years ago we were facing Dad’s last Christmas. And here we were, facing another abnormal Christmas with Mum being hospitalised. It’s hard doing the festivities when all is not well with the folks. Thankfully we were still at least able to go see Mum on her ward so we took her presents in to her. A few hours later we were on to my sister’s house. We opened presents, ate yummy festive food and wished Mum was home. Despite all this, Reuben was glad to see his cousins. It wasn’t normal but Christmas was had. 🎄
