DUMMY ADDICTION | Why I Can’t Let My Toddler Quit the Dummy

April 12, 2019

I blame the nurse – she’s the one who suggested the damn dummy in the first place. Reuben loves a dummy – or “mam mam” as he calls them. He thinks they’re the best! And I wouldn’t disagree, dummies are pretty useful. Tired? Pop in […]

ANXIETY | I’m Happy But I Still Think About Suicide

October 9, 2018

CO-SLEEPING | Why We (Still) Sleep With Our Child

September 20, 2018

Co-sleeping is everything like you imagine: it’s cramped, inconvenient, a bit scary, and can often have you waking with a stiff neck.  So why do it?  Because as much as co-sleeping with a little one literally cramps your style, it’s the best feeling ever. Updated […]

Parenting Through Anxiety: A Mentally Ill Motherhood

April 7, 2018

For as long as I’ve been a mother I’ve had anxiety.  To me, motherhood and anxiety are one and I don’t see a horizon on this tumultuous sea of worry. People love to tell you that anxiety comes with being a parent.  Mums and dads […]

I’m A Horrible Mum Because Anxiety Makes Me Angry

March 11, 2018

[Trigger Warning] This week was not great.  In fact, many days aren’t that great.  Maybe I’m exaggerating, but when I’ve had a really challenging experience –  my baby has, well, cried and I’ve lost the plot – I can’t help but write the day off […]

A WATCH FOR MOTHERS DAY | The Gift Of Customised Time

March 7, 2018

*PR GIFTED Mother’s Day for me used to be an occasion for giving thanks to my mum.  It still is – my mum’s the best! – but now I’ve joined the parenting club it’s a day for me too.  Granted, with a single one year […]

Baby Bath Time with Child’s Farm Skincare

January 19, 2018

Bath time is a highly anticipated activity in this house.  Not least by myself (what frazzled mum doesn’t love a good soak in the tub?), but of course, the littlest man himself.  It may be a daily ritual but with a menagerie of flashing frogs and half […]

Reuben’s Royal Mail: Post From Prince George!

8 Reasons A Christmas Pregnancy is the Best

December 18, 2017

This time last year I was pregnant.  Twenty-nine weeks by Christmas Day, to be precise, so I’d hit the third trimester and was well and truly blooming.  Now I’m as far away from being pregnant for as long as I was pregnant for, I’ve donned […]

Here’s something you may bump into me doing… b Here’s something you may bump into me doing… bargain shopping, charity shopping, thrift hauling, call it what you will. I love the thrill of shopping, always on the hunt for silly prices and getting a deal with a little “squee” dance when it hits the sweet spot.

Who else loves bargain shopping? 🛍️

Did this back in December in the run up to Christmas, when we went to Belsay Hall in Northumberland. There’s still time to do it if you haven’t, as the awesome sheepies are there til the 26th January 2026. It’s a really nice walk around Belsay’s gardens so worth a visit.

So which do you think looks the best one? I love the gingerbread Shaun and the gardener Shaun because it has some lovely little bugs all over him. 🐞

2026 is here ✨ This wasn’t today though. Thi 2026 is here ✨

This wasn’t today though. This was the last day of 2025 (yesterday) but it was just as cold. It was a frosty day and we ended up playing with the ice in the frozen ponds at Fountains Abbey. Just breaking it up, smashing it through with twigs and releasing air bubbles. Didn’t actually see the abbey. Just played with ice. Most unexpected fun ever. 😄

This was the week before Christmas when we went up to the Northern Sinfonia concert and made a visit to Fenwick’s Christmas window display. This year’s theme was A Christmas Carol which was really well done. I loved the scene where Scrooge is being flown over the town by the ghost of yet to come. And we spotted our own living room fireplace tiling surround in the Crachit household. 😂

Sometimes Christmas is a strange old one. I’d be Sometimes Christmas is a strange old one. I’d been reflecting on how this time ten years ago we were facing Dad’s last Christmas. And here we were, facing another abnormal Christmas with Mum being hospitalised. It’s hard doing the festivities when all is not well with the folks. Thankfully we were still at least able to go see Mum on her ward so we took her presents in to her. A few hours later we were on to my sister’s house. We opened presents, ate yummy festive food and wished Mum was home. Despite all this, Reuben was glad to see his cousins. It wasn’t normal but Christmas was had. 🎄
