Bridal Lingerie: Wonderbra Refined Glamour Ultimate Strapless Reviewed

January 28, 2016

The role of a bride’s lingerie is often under appreciated.  So much so, many brides choose to wear just their regular underwear.  But bridal lingerie is so much more than a simple bra and brief, and if you consider it well, can take your wedding dress to another level.  The right bra will support you right where you need it and acts as the foundation of your outfit, existing to make you feel sensational even before you don the most beautiful dress of your life.

With bridal trends still popularising strapless designs, the multiway bra is as imperative as ever, yet it has long accrued a less than popular reputation.  So many strapless bras over the years have disappointed to the point many brides choose to go bra-less than attempt to wear one.  If you’re fuller busted, the quest for such a bra is all the more of a challenge.  And being a bride-to-be on the upper end of the bra scale myself, it’s become a genuine case of first hand determination.

When Wonderbra informed me that their Ultimate Strapless was going all glamorous, I was so excited.  I’ve reviewed Wonderbra’s strapless bras in the past and had been genuinely impressed, so the potential for a supportive and actually functioning piece of underwear that was beautiful too, was all too enticing.  And I’ll cut to the chase – the Refined Glamour doesn’t disappoint!

Wonderbra sent me the Refined Glamour Ultimate Strapless Bra (32G, £38) and Shorty (large, £15)

The ultimate strapless is revolutionary in its design.  If you saw my review of the Deep Plunge bra you’ll already be familiar with the kind of uplift and shape you get from these solutions bras.   The Refined Glamour is moulded for the perfect shape and while it doesn’t have any padding, it maintains a push up effect thanks to the very futuristic core, with its plastic shaping and hand-like support structure within each cup.  The result is an extremely lightweight bra that provides a rounded shape with uplift and solid support.

Another aspect unique to Wonderbra is the intriguing silicone spotting to the inner wings and along with the under band.  It means the bra sticks where you want it and literally does not budge.  I tested it with a series of bounces and movement, and this bra was going nowhere.

I found the fit of the 30G to be very snug, but while it could be too tight for some, I still found it comfortably wearable.  It feels firm like I can trust it to do its job.

Which brings me to the overall aesthetic: the Refined Glamour is so intricately beautiful!  The soft overlaid ivory lace over the cream cups has an art deco style to it and looks supremely decadent.

The brief compliments the bra with the soft handle ivory lace.  It’s a delicate pattern featuring a gentle elastic waistband and raw edges that plays the scalloping pattern to its full glory.  The cut is unobtrusive and really quite flattering.  Not a ground breaking solutions design but it delivers with its beauty.

I think the Refined Glamour is just perfect as a bridal bra; it has the looks and substance, putting it right up there as my potential big-day bra of choice.

Have you experienced Wonderbra’s Ultimate Strapless range before?  How do you feel about strapless and multiway bras in general?  Have you found a bra that delivers it’s promises, or are you unconvinced such a bra exists?  I’d love to hear your thoughts!

Great post. I totally agree that it is an important part of the whole wedding outfit . my wife had a bad experiexperience with a lingerie shop that tried to sell her the only wedding set they had even though it did not fit properly and was cutting her boobs in half. Luckly I found an excellent shop in Stonehaven that was much more helpful and we purchased several sets from her ☺

That’s terrible service from the shop. Sadly it’s not even the first time I’ve heard this kind of thing. I don’t see how retailers gain in the long run because customers won’t return, or in the least, trust their word. Your wife is lucky you found a much better shop!

I cannot believe you could fit into the 30 band :O I am usually about the same size as you and I think 34 would be the best band size for me with this bra! I am so confused…

Oh it is a tight fit, but in the most wearable way! I find that Wonderbra’s 32Gs run a bit big for me in the band so tend to need a 30G. Most other brands though, a 30G would be too small.

Your passion for lingerie is contagious. While I have been around lingerie for years it is very refreshing to find somone and a blog that shows such enthusiasm for these products. Each time I look back at your choices I find something I like about all of them.
