With Christmas in sight, now’s a great time to start thinking about your festive social calendar and those all important outfits. I’ve partnered with Very.co.uk to showcase my own style edit of the best party-ready dresses and accessories this season.

Christmas is in the air — but have you sorted your party outfits yet?

There’s something about a frosty morning and the gauzy vignette of a foggy day that give off serious Christmas vibes. All I want to do is curl up on the sofa beneath the glow of my Christmas tree with the cheesiest of Christmas movies and a marshmallowy hot chocolate — and I am so for it right now!

With this Christmas set to be the first proper ‘normal’ Christmas we’ve had since before the pandemic, it’s no wonder I’m not the only one getting into the festive spirit already.

And back to normal means one thing: getting together is back on!

Whether it’s the work Christmas ‘do’, a social mingle or date-night with the significant other, you can never go wrong with a touch of luxe to glam up your evening and a killer dress is always a great go-to.

The Little Black Dress

There’s always a time and a place for a little black dress. It’s the perfect timeless choice for when you want a classic look, something that’s super easy to accessorise and a great option for making the most of one item of clothing.

With a daring deep cut neckline finishing with a twist centre knot, it’s a bold look that’s sure to get you noticed at the party. The stretchy fabric of this midi dress makes it a perfect choice for all figure shapes, so if you don’t fancy anything figure hugging or restrictive it’s a delight to wear.

Co-ordinate your look with a classic pair of black stilettos, or go all out with a dazzling pop of colour. I’ve gone for a pair of Raid chunky glittered sandals in a bright fuchsia pink colour. These are really well made shoes that don’t shed specks of glitter all over the place so they’ll stay gorgeously glittery for all your occasions.

In-keeping with the jewel-like tones, this emerald green Accessorize bag is just a treasure! In a plush quilted velvet for a luxe touch, this little shoulder bag-cum-clutch is a great choice for functionality. Low Key Glam

When the occasion calls for smart-casual but you still want to shine bright like a star, there’s ways and means to create a polished look without the sacrifice of sparkle.

A shirt dress with delicate frill sleeves, a gently nipped in waist and midi hemline makes for an ultra feminine look ideal for more relaxed social affairs. Monsoon dresses are ideal party dress investment pieces, with the Monsoon Embellished Shirt Dress an example of how a little touch of luxe can transform an everyday garment into something special.
