Modern Thermals for a Snug & Sexy Winter
If you’re anything like me – an icicle in the slightest breeze – cold weather is the malevolent enemy. Being adverse to arctic temperatures is one thing, but suffering the throes of poor circulation, or Raynaud’s in my case, makes this time of year every bit unbearable.
Even if you’re not at risk of a painful Raynaud’s attack, it’s important to keep your body warm when it’s cold. Winter layering in woolly knits can sometimes be a bit much, and bulk doesn’t necessarily mean insulation. Then there’s the task of dressing up in a little dress for the party season without suffering the cold. So what can you wear that’ll actually keep you warm without piling on the jumpers?
Thermal underwear has long attracted a faux pas reputation, being seen as frumpy and the garment of choice of the elderly. But times have moved on, and it is possible to buy thermals that are modern and far removed from their old age label.
Here I have two different modern styles of thermals from Charnos and S’No Queen, all in a size medium.
Charnos Cocoon is a gorgeous loungewear range that includes staple thermal base layers, which are both functional and pretty.
In a choice of three basic colours: black, white and mink, I chose the latter. The warm earthy shade accented with pale pink is a flattering natural tone that looks cosy. The finishing touches of bows and lace trim to the cuffs adds a hint of cute femininity.
The leggings, camisole vest and long sleeve top are made of a fine gauge modal knit with the benefit of silk which is known for its supreme insulating qualities.
The fabric feels soft and light and wears easily beneath an outfit: the camisole being the perfect layer over your bra for added warmth, the top under a sweater – or all easily worn to chill out at home or sleep in.
Long Sleeve Top RRP £30
Camisole RRP £25
Leggings £35

S’No Queen makes cold weather glamorous. Producing base layers with added luxe factor, this is a brand who have feminised Winter sports thermals with hints of class: figure fitting, in a variety of stylish colours with designer sparkle touches.
The luxuriously soft micro modal fabric also contains silk and lycra which lends a beautiful fit that’s warm and looks gorgeous.
The leggings feature a fold over waist band for added comfort and both the long sleeve top are gently ribbed for maximum warmth.
Hot pink is a favourite colour of mine and I just love the vibrancy of this collection! The shade is bright and cheerful, and the diamante detailing looks so fun and rather glam.
Long Sleeve Top RRP £70
Leggings RRP £55

I don’t think I could pick a favourite out of the two sets as they’re both so comfy and a pleasure to wear. What I love about the Charnos set is that it feels girly but not in the arena of frumpy, and the S’No Queen set is utterly gorgeous with its sparkle and uplifting colour.
This Winter is going to be my cosiest yet – I’m so immensely happy I can wear thermals now without feeling like a member of The Waltons!
