Blackspade Noir Olivia: Polka Dot Dressing Gown
Lounging around in a dressing gown is probably up there on my list of favourite things to do; chilling out on the sofa with my favourite pjs on, all wrapped up in a comfy robe – you can’t beat that simple luxury! While a fleecy number is the typical cosy style I plump for, I do actually have a variety that meet various needs: toweling robes for the bathroom and silk and satin robes for something a little more sensual and cool. But what I don’t have is a simple, easy care robe, and that’s precisely what I’m going to need to take into hospital with me when I go in to give birth.
UK Lingerie were generous enough to let me have a browse of their website, and even though there were lots of products taking my fancy, it didn’t take me long to know which piece I really loved. The Noir Olivia Dotted Robe by Blackspade was simply gorgeous and everything I was looking for in a cotton gown.
UK Lingerie sent me the Blackspade Noir Olivia Dotted Robe in size L/XL | £45
A cotton/modal mix fabric, Blackspade’s Noir Olivia robe is a lightweight, soft handle dressing gown that’s easy to care for and wear. The stretch nature of the jersey type material provides comfortable unrestricted fit with a fluid drape, and being a fine knit it makes the ideal summer cover up or when you don’t want to wear anything too heavy and warm.
The Noir Olivia robe is an ankle length gown for full leg coverage with kimono style cropped sleeves. In a loose and casual wrap around fit, securing with an inner cord then over the waist with a dusky pink tie belt, the grey polka dot printed robe is incredibly stylish, emanating a laid back, contemporary cool vibe.
I went for the large/XL size as it translates to a UK 14-16, and it fits beautifully. Even with a growing baby bump I have ample room to move in it and appreciate the slouchy cut without it looking oversized and frumpy. The fabric drapes effortlessly over my shoulders and feels well tailored to my body. My H cup full bust has plenty room with the cross over wrap and being 5’8″, the hem skims my ankles, so it’s a decent, full length gown.
I just love the buttery soft feel of this robe; it’s as luxurious as cotton gets and is such a pleasure to touch. Sensitive skins will be relieved by the gentle nature of the fabric too (I’m a fine one for picking up on irritating sensations) so it’s a joy to wear something akin to slathering on a rich body cream. It feels utterly gorgeous and with looks as beautiful too – I love it!
I’m confident this robe’s going to take me right up to the point I’ll be carrying a big bump and I’m looking forward to it going in my hospital bag where I’ll be taking any opportunity to wear it and feel effortlessly stylish with my new babba in arm!
How do you like your dressing gowns? Is thick and snuggly your favourite style, or do you like finer knits with less bulk? What do you think of the Blackspade robe? Would you wear it? I’d love to hear your thoughts on this loungewear staple!
