Hepburn & Leigh Win: My First Splurge

January 27, 2014

Unless you’ve been living under a rock the last few months, you’ll have heard I won Hepburn & Leigh’s Garter Girl competition, because I really have been banging on about it since.  My photoshoot, in which I modelled quite a bounty of retro and pin up inspired lingerie, finally came to fruition a few weeks ago and my amazing £1000 gift to spend as I wish in the online store has given lots of opportunity to ogle pretty things.

Since I’m such a thrifty spender (or tight arse!) I predict several little shopping sprees yet to come, especially as some pieces I really have my eye on are out of stock at the moment.  Kiss Me Deadly’s corsets will be money well spent too, so I’m anticipating an order in that direction at some point soon.

Realistically my first order was a rather sedate affair (I’ve heard a few of you would have easily spent it all in one swipe!) but this was an exciting splurge for me!  I’m honestly not one for buying so many things in one go so this is a nice stress reliever, as well as a tidy refresher for my modelling stock too.

So this is what I got:

  • Cervin Manon stockings with blue hem, seam and cuban heel detail size 3
  • Kiss Me Deadly Van Doren deep pin up knickers size M
  • Playful Promises Ouvert knickers – crotchless knickers with suspender clips size M
  • Kiss Me Deadly Vargas longline girdle in hot pink size M
  • Playful Promises Peacock longline bra size 34DD
  • Playful Promises Grace open cup bra – the strapping detail of the Peacock bra size M
  • Fraulein Annie Balcony Bikini top with reversible sailor & stripe print size 34E

As a 30GG/32G wearer I have sacrificed proper fit for the pure fact of owning beautiful items that either aren’t normally available in my size range or available at the time.  The bikini was a total bargain and a beauty which was why I had to have it.  For such a topsy turvy size the fit really isn’t too bad.  Yes, the band feels massive but at least I’m not quad boobing.

I’ve lusted for Playful Promises longlines featuring the awesome strapping detail for absolutely ages, and since I tried a 34DD at the photoshoot and found it to be *liveable*, I couldn’t help myself.  The peacock print is so exotic looking and absolutely stunning.

I also decided to treat some female family, so I spent a while feeling like a total perv asking around for bra sizes.  I can’t wait to deliver those goodies!  One of my beautiful nieces turned sixteen just before Christmas – I used to think about the days I could go clothes shopping with her and so now it feels really cool that as her auntie I can do this.

What do you think I should check out and maybe buy next from Hepburn & Leigh?  What would you buy if you had £1000 to spend there?

I would think you must have felt a bit like a kid in a candy store (or a lingerie addict inthe retro and pinup inspired Hepburn and Leigh lingerie store) with that £1000 prize to spend. Just looking at it all must be wonderful. Enjoy!

Oh my, how lucky! First I would have to say that if I was to win £1000 in lingerie I would like it to be in a store that carried 28 backs (is it too much to ask? :P), that being said, it would be the perfect excuse to try sisters sizes in all the bras I liked and see if there was something I could make do with or alter. But, in spite of this little detail I suspect I could spend all the money without buying any bras… my imaginary shopping list would look like this:

    – all the Cervin FF’s in Black £30 x 2 + £28
    – Cervin Tentation Fully Fashioned Stockings In Blush £28
    – Cervin Havana Fully Fashioned Stockings In Navy £30
    – Cervin Capri Plumetis in Black £13
    – KMD Opaque Stockings in Black £6
    – Betty Blue’s Bettie Robe £175
xx Betty Blue’s Black Tempest Babydoll £50 xx removed
xx Karolina Laskowska Ela Gold Bra and Knicker £90 + £65 xx removed
xx KMD Elle Knicker in Black and Purple £31 x 2 xx removed
    – KMD Elle Robe in Black £75 xxand Purple+ £79xx
    – Fraulein Annie Falling in Love Mulberry xxFuller Bust Bra in 32DD/Exx, xxShaping Briefxx and Pantygirdle xx£54xx xx+ £39xx + £49,90
xx Karolina Laskowska Luiza Bra and Knicker £150 + £125 xx removed
    – Betty Blue’s Nell Teddy £120
    – Rosy Sensual Shaping Brief in Black £52
xx KMD Van Doren Boned Black 6-Strap Suspender Belt £34 xx removed
xx KMD Vargas Dress in Black in 32DD £69xx removed
xx KMD Van Doren Bralet £32 xx removed
    – KMD Virgin Lace Bralet, Brief and Suspender £36 + £16,25 + £36,25
    – Betty Blue’s Nell Robe £250

(some of the items are no longer available in my size but it is hypothetical anyway :P)

Well guess I’m one of those who would spend it all at once because my math came at £1824,40, I would have to call H&L and ask for another voucher 😛
After some editing I was able to reduce it to £975,40, which means I could still add a couple extra pairs of stockings.

This imaginary shopping was fun, can only imagine how awesome will it be to actually buy all the stuff, hope you have fun with your voucher 🙂

P.S.: and hope I didn’t bore you to death with my bible sized comment…

Ana – I love your comment!!

You mentioned some items that I still really, really want myself but the sizes don’t seem to be available, which is a massive shame. Such as the Rosy shaping brief, it’s absolutely beautiful but not in a medium! 🙁

I’ve since made four more orders! I’ve bought some things for my sisters and nieces, but still have enough to get treats for myself. Last week my Betty Blue’s robe arrived. I think I shall have to update the blog with my purchases!

Thanks again for taking so much time to comment – you’re very much welcome!

I did notice that some items only had a few sizes in stock 🙁

Yes, please! Would love to see what you chose 🙂

I saw a link to the blog on facebook (maybe Large Cup Lingerie’s page? I don’t remember) and you were wearing Fraulein Annie’s Falling in Love Mulberry, which I’ve been obsessing over since I first saw, so I decided to check it out and ended up reading a few posts. Glad you appreciate the comments, loved the blog 🙂
