Bras for large busts have come on leaps and bounds in recent years with brands, new and old, recognising the demand for gorgeous, young and sexy lingerie.  But, while there’s plenty choice on the market there’s still a certain style that many brands struggle to produce: the super sheer soft cup.

There are obvious obstacles replicating the styles often designed for smaller sizes since big boobs need substantial support, and thin fabrics by their nature can fight against the weight of larger boobs.  Few brands have mastered the art of the sheer cup, and many have spoiled the look with over cautious layers.

Curvy Kate are a brand who got it right.  They’re a young label in touch with the trends, recently  introducing their gorgeous sheer balcony collection, Bardot: a super fine mesh soft cup available from a D to a J cup with their first sheer babydoll up to a K.

Curvy Kate provided me with the 30H balcony bra and size 14 suspender short.

Bardot is a pretty demure collection; dark and sensual, it’s black base colour is brought to life with lilac embroidery detailing the upper cup, with silky matching bows and satin stitching adding to its luxe feel.  True to it’s description, Bardot is extremely sheer so it’s ultra transparent.  It’s such a good option for those who like to feel as natural and light as possible without masses of swamping fabric and paddings, which is also perfect as the weather is warming up.

Bardot’s balcony cut is supportive and gives a rounded look.  The deep 3 hook band and fully stretch straps make for an all round comfortable fit.  It feels sturdy yet light as a feather to wear which is a refreshing change as a large cup wearer.

Initially trying the 30GG bra I found the cups to be very small, so I tried the 30H which fits perfectly.  In this respect, I strongly recommend to size up in the cup straight without sizing down the band.

The suspender short is a gorgeous co-ordinating piece to the bra.  It provides good bottom coverage with the added benefit of straps to attach stockings for the extra glam factor.  But for the days you don’t feel like wearing stockings (or if you don’t wear them at all) you can easily detach the straps and wear the shorts as they are.  They’re really comfy, and whilst the reverse is totally sheer like the bra, the front panel provides some modesty if you don’t fancy flashing your muff!

Bardot is such a pretty set that isn’t loud and doesn’t boast uber cleavage properties, but it is a delight to wear that’s as sexy or sweet as you feel.

Hi, thank you for this review, I´ve ordered Bardot babydoll recently and now I can´t wait to try it on! I have a question for you… Since I am not from the UK, I have no idea how does brief/shorts/knickers/whatever sizing work in this system and I would really love to buy the suspender short… My only option is ordering stuff online. My waist measures approximately 26 inches and my hips 28 inches. I can´t quite figure out which size should I order. Maybe twelve? I would be really greatful for your advice.
