Colour Block Swimwear | Speedo Sculpture Crystalshine

April 13, 2015

This past week the UK has been enjoying some gloriously hot weather, and up here in the Yorkshire Dales we’ve been reaching for our Summer wardrobe and basking in the sun.  So it seems perfect timing that I’ve been taking a look at the latest swimwear releases, and there’s an array of designs and colour to delight your curves.

Continuing with my look at the colour blocking trend comes the vivacious Crystalshine Swimsuit (£45) from Speedo Sculpture.  This is Speedo’s body shaping range that offers solutions to body conscious women so that you feel great about yourself when stepping out to the pool.

Crystalshine is one of Speedo Sculpture’s best selling collections, and the new season colourway is the vivid Blue/Black, brought to life with its injection of bright pink.  The colour blocking of Crystalshine is cleverly designed with the black bottom section and blue top broken up with a deep, pink waist band for a flattering silhouette.

To fit my current size 14 frame I was sent the size 36 swimsuit.

The Crystalshine is an absolute dream of a swimsuit to wear.  It’s quick and easy to put on thanks to its fairly scooping, squared off back and straps that slip on over your shoulders (no fiddly racer back here).

While Crystalshine is a regular sized swimsuit without bra cups, it is well designed with a soft bra effect top featuring ruching to the centre, offering ample room for a full bust.  I actually prefer that it isn’t bra cupped because it means the fit isn’t restrictive and its all very streamlined and fluid.  I’m impressed with the straps as they’re wide but super flat, so they’re functional but feel smooth and well fitting.

The new colourway really is the best this line has been produced in yet; it’s so on trend and funky!  It doesn’t have a strict ‘I’m a swimming costume’ look about it – the type where you would happily wear it for the baths but not on the beach.  You can just as easily wear this for your regular swimming session and take it on your hols too, because it’s so modern and up to the minute in its style.

I can’t wait to throw my usual cossies aside and rock this down my leisure centre.  You guessed it, I love it!

What do you think of the colour blocking trend?

Do you think you could or would want to wear it?

Have you ever tried a swimsuit from Speedo’s Sculpture range?
