Prima Donna: Divine Fit, Divine Lingerie

* PR GIFTED

Since becoming a mum, what I’ve looked for in underwear has definitely changed.  Whilst I can still appreciate the fashion and frivolity of the lingerie world, when it comes to my everyday wardrobe I have no time for style without substance.  My body’s changed and so has my attitude: a bra better fit or it’s out!

Some of my favourite brands that previously I’d have reached for every time, now don’t always work for me.  It’s like every new curve and extra inch meets a hurdle, a problem to solve that seemingly every bra I try to wear doesn’t want to know.  It’s times like this that push me further away from the usual fashion styles that I love, and give me reason to turn to the more premium brands who seriously invest in their art.

Prima Donna is one of those brands that I swear I wouldn’t have considered before.  It’s price tag is dear, and admittedly, I used to think of it as a brand for an older clientelle.  Whether becoming a mum has suddenly aged me or my tastes have matured, I’m not sure, but my demands are certainly aligning with the higher quality of this brand’s lingerie.

Thanks to UK Lingerie for their continued support in helping me find my ‘post-baby best fit’ – yes, even now I’ve come face to face with the one year milestone, I’m still getting to know my new body shape.  Having looked at UK Lingerie’s extensive range I was intrigued by the fuller bust Prima Donna bras and keen to give the prettiest style a whirl.

Prima Donna’s Divine collection is exactly true to its name: it’s one seriously exquisite set with stunning looks and wears like a second skin.  Divine is a classic shaped underwired bra with pre-formed, seam-free and unpadded cups.  Crafted in beautifully sheer French lace and a spotted mesh body, Divine offers a thoroughly feminine aesthetic that showcases your assets with a flattering natural shape.  The glamorous styling extending beyond its luscious floral lace, a heavily textured embroidery details the straps, making Divine a truly luxurious piece.

As Prima Donna is a French brand and doesn’t produce GG cups I asked UK Lingerie if I could try both the 32G and 32H to help me decide on the better size.  I was surprised (and glad) to find the 32H fit, which meant I wasn’t going to be stuck between sizes or substituting to a sister size for a near fit.

Available in a select choice of wardrobe essential colours including Black and Venus (a blush pink), Divine now comes in the mysteriously cool teal Submarine shade.  Personally I love this colourway as its sapphire-like hue adds an extra touch of luxe.

What’s particularly appealing about this bra is its less than typical design.  Unusual for a full bust bra, Divine’s slim band closes on a narrow two hook fastener.  This makes Divine’s style so refreshingly different and creates a whole new streamlined look typically off limits for the bustier frame.

Divine in the 32H size fits me like a dream – a sensation that’s eluded me for quite some time!  Though I’d usually go for a balcony shape, the high apex and classic style of Divine is hugely appealing in this instance and seems to suit me so well.  The centre front is comfortably placed between my boobs without a hint of nipping or digging, and the underwires are nicely rounded without being overly wide around the armpit.  The pre-formed mesh lace feels smooth and surprisingly sensual against my skin.  I don’t often get on with lace underwear but Divine’s lace is beautifully silken.  Together with the fully adjustable stretch shoulder straps the fit is totally spot on.  I feel like I’ve been needing a bra like this for a long, long time.

The Divine collection offers three choices of brief style – midi, thong and maxi – co-ordinating with the bra, featuring the sheer spotted mesh.  I went for the maxi knickers because they actually looked the comfiest, and hey, I’m just all about comfort right now.

The size 14 maxi brief provides the most coverage of all the styles; high on the tummy and low cut on the leg, this is a really good hip hugging shape that’s going to fit snug around your lumps and bumps and just generally feel super comfy.  Now, very often this style will mean a broad amount of fabric across the bottom but with Divine it’s a sultrier take on the classic cut, showing off a little more butt.

Although Divine’s maxi brief is a comfort fit style, it still has a very sexy look thanks to its stunning transparent mesh.  Predominantly a solid stretch fabric to the rear and front of the briefs, panels of mesh lace to each side lend the brief a flattering silhouette.

The briefs are so, so comfy to wear.  Even though I get my lingerie in sets I’m actually rarely one to match my underwear when I wear it.  The Divine bra and brief is the exception as it’s such a gorgeous set, and the knickers are a dream.

The size 14 is a great fit, though I wish the knickers were a little more generous around the thigh as I’m aware the elastic nips a little into my skin.  But it’s not massively bothersome as, like I say, I wear them all the time, and it’s not enough to give me sores or anything nasty like that.

The Divine lingerie set is an understated luxury that you could easily bypass amongst a catalogue of fashion pieces.  Its muted tone and sleek lines don’t scream out at you, it doesn’t offer you a vamped cleavage or fashion led print – but if it’s supreme fit and a sophisticated, timeless style you’re after, then you’d be pushed to find anything as, quite literally, divine as this little number.

I love the look of the pretty floral French lace, the feminine details like the bow and scalloped edges of the elastic on the PrimaDonna Divine Underwired Bra and of the elasticised waist, the polka-dot mesh tulle panels, and the embroidered flower on front of the full coverage high-waisted PrimaDonna Divine Maxi Brief.
It’s rare that I see the kind of full coverage design I love in the luxury lingerie brands. I would love to find out first hand what it feels like wearing them!
I can see from looking at the photos of you modelling them that they are a very pretty panty and bra set!

Hi Panty Buns, it’s beautiful isn’t it? I think you’d love the knickers, they feel so silky soft and have a gorgeous, generous cut.

I have this bra and the midi briefs in 6 different colours and love it. I used to wear balconnet bras but found that after pregnancy and breastfeeding my breasts were more like jelly and needed to be encased. This bra ticked all the boxes regarding looks, comfortable and support and versatility as it very really showed through anything. I’ve recently started hrt and have put on weight and my breasts have also enlarged so I’m now looking to repurchase the continuity colours in a larger size. At a recent fitting ( not for Prima Donna as that brand wasn’t available) I was told that I was now a 30ff. Would this correspond to the 30g? While Prima Donna bras are available where I live, 30 backs are not readily available and my previous experience tells me that the store will desperately try to convince me that a 32 will do because that is what they have in stock. This is why I would prefer to mail-order.

Hi Alison, I’d probably suggest you try the 32G. I’d normally go for a 30 band but found with the Divine bra that the 32 was actually a good fit. The 32G just might be spot on for you. I’d love this set in more colours too, as it’s still my favourite!
