Come February we’re all a bit fed up with the cold and dreary weather.  Thankfully with March sharply ahead, we’ve not long to wait til the world wakes up again at the dawn of Spring.  Budding greenery and delicate flowers paint the scenery with colour – a sight that brightens my mood and gives me fresh hope for life.  Oh how I anticipate that moment!

The time has come to shun those Winter darks and introduce a lighter colour palette.  

I came across the new colourway of Panache Fern recently and it excited me.  Granted, a lot of lingerie excites me, but seeing the new Blue Floral Fern in all it’s colourful glory was a feeling reminiscent of witnessing the first flowering crocus.

Panache Fern is a classically shaped balcony bra providing generous coverage lent by the deep central gore.  The unpadded cups mean there’s no additional bulk, allowing the mesh fabric to fluidly cover and gently shape.  The straps are only semi stretch adjustable but the band is a deep 3 hooks wide offering a firm anchor.

This season’s Fern is transformed, this time in a cool sky blue base decorated with a delicate pink floral print, and trimmed with an embroidered lace strip to the top of the cups.  It’s very pretty, with a look almost as if it’s been coloured with water paints.

Panache sent me the Fern balcony bra in a 30GG and matching brief in a 12 to try out.

The bra fits seamlessly – the band is both snug and comfortable, and despite the short strap adjustment I’m able to slide the straps to the right length.  I do like my straps with plenty stretch but during a day’s wear it’s unnoticeable.

The cups are very much right where I want them – I don’t find them too wide and they’re sufficiently deep to contain my boobs without any digging beneath my armpits, which is a major point scorer.

Even though the fabric and overall design of Fern is completely different to Panache’s balcony Tango, I would definitely liken the two’s construction, fit-wise.  Sadly, whilst Tango is a perfect fit for me as the plunge, it wasn’t quite right as the balcony, which is unfortunately also the case for Fern.  If your boobs have space of maybe half a centremetre between them you’ll be absolutely okay with Fern’s fit, but it’s not made for close set boobs like my own.  I’ve found that for a balcony to fit comfortably the central gore needs to be slightly higher or a fraction below where Fern’s (and Tango balcony’s) gore sits.  It’s just right in the worst position and it did hurt me with wear.

Central gore issues aside, I just love the new Fern.  A bra that looks as gorgeous as this is the perfect uplift on a miserable day (and I’m feeling many of those).  I love Fern so much so, I’m feeling the need to figure out a restructuring plan, and hopefully find a way to mould the gore into a better shape or by altering the height of the gore.  I need Spring in my life already and Fern will be my new bra best friend.
