SS16 Botanicals: Lepel Lilly Strawberry Print
In a world where lingerie can be overly provocative and femininity is rolled out in lace, it’s so uplifting when a collection comes along that’s simply fun.
The Lilly set by Lepel is one of the brand’s most popular styles; a t-shirt friendly moulded cup in a trend-led fashion design. This time around, fun strawberry print Lilly is colourful and fresh with a vibrant hedgerow strawberry design – just the ticket to blow away the winter cobwebs.
Strawberry Lilly features a busy print of strawberries, blossoms and butterflies on a funky purple backdrop. The floral creamy whites and spring green foliage pop against the dusky berry purple, adding a playful twist to the lively botanical theme.
Lilly is a true soft and comfy underwear set. Its microfibre touch feels second-skin making Lilly an effortless wear.
Lepel sent me the Lilly Moulded Balcony Bra (32G) and Mini Brief (14)
The moulded balcony bra is soft and lightweight, with gentle side boning for added support. Its slim straps are semi adjustable and the narrow band closes on double hooks.
The bra’s moulded structure provides a level of padding that results in a satisfying rounded shape. This works for me, as I do appreciate something more substantial in my bra when the weather’s not yet warmed up.
I like how the straps are thin but I do wish they were fully adjustable. I find without stretch straps can dig a little, and this is only worsened being slim.
As much as I love the whole look of this bra, it doesn’t work so well for me on this occasion. The 32G isn’t big enough in the cup and it means it doesn’t fit quite right. I’m pretty sure Lepel had started producing GG and H cups at some point but it doesn’t seem to be the case anymore, which is such a shame. Otherwise, it’s a lovely everyday bra that feels comfy enough and looks cute.
The mini brief is slinky and stretchy, cut low on the tummy and broad on the hip; the easiest of everyday knickers.
The size 14 brief is a perfect fit and it’s definitely one of the comfiest knickers I’ve worn. The style is very simple but this is what makes them perfect to me. I don’t particularly care for fussy trimmings on my everyday knickers, but the Lilly brief doesn’t need anything fancy when it sports a print as cute as a ditsy strawberry garden.
