My winter wedding dream didn’t go as I’d hoped which means, for now, I’m not yet a Mrs.  But with the wedding planning truly back on the cards, with sights set on a spring wedding, I’ve been getting back into the swing of all things bridal.  Right alongside what lingerie to wear, hosiery has found me indulging in all manner of beautiful options.

Although I’m wishing for glorious weather, I’m fully aware that a British spring can be anything from sweltering to washed out, and I’m best preparing for the latter.  And as much as keeping warm is a factor, I’m mostly interested in the aesthetic, and I’m realising that a regular look won’t do.

Bridal hosiery, whether tights, stockings or hold ups, tend to follow a similar theme: ivory and maybe a hint of lace.  While this simple look may be lovely it is way too mundane for me.  And why would you want to wear something that will suffice over be amazing?

I came across Mayfair Stockings who I’d not heard about before, but I found they stocked some really stunning hosiery.  When they realised I was shopping for my wedding they asked me if I’d like to choose some, and I went for the gorgeous retro spotted Cervin Capri Plumetis 15 stockings.

I first experienced Cervin stockings on my Hepburn and Leigh shoot, so I knew to expect a premium quality and non stretch finish.  I have to admit I probably prefer stockings with some stretch, but I forewent it knowing they’d still be a decent wear.

And Cervin are very good.  These delightful dotty stockings feel sumptuous and a real treat, making them perfect for your bridal hosiery.  They come in a choice of three colours: black, gazelle and white, and a good variety of sizes, which is great when compared to many brands ‘one size fits all’ method, but also imperative for a perfect fit when you don’t have that stretch to rely on.

The Capri Plumetis stockings are a fine, sheer 100% nylon knit that’s soft but super strong.  They’re light enough to show skin while veiling with a touch of colour.  With deep plain tops, a reinforced heel and toe and no seam, these stockings glide on and fit like a glove.

What appealed to me most about these stockings were their adorable style.  Polka dots get me every time, and the tiny dot detailing is feminine, subtle but so far from plain.

I wore my stockings with my Panache Serenity bridal lingerie which shows how they perfectly complete the look.  It’s a timeless, delicate style that looks as sensational as they feel.

I truly love these stockings, but I would make one note regarding the woven nature.  As the stockings are sized according to your height, they disregard your foot measurement, which in my experience makes for dubious territory.  Being 5’8″ tall meant I fitted into the extra large/Cervin’s size 4, but my feet, while they’re a pretty average size 6, my toes are little, and as such I found the sock part a teensy bit over sized.

With my wedding coming up in a few months, I have some time to explore more bridal hosiery and see what else catches my eye, but the Cervin Capri Plumetis are certainly in the running for the big day.
