Back to Basics with Gossard Glossies

Diamonds are a girl’s best friend, and sparkles have a place in every wardrobe, but after a season of glitz and glamour its refreshing to go back to basics with beautifully simple lingerie.

Minimalistic lingerie is perfect for January when you can’t stand the sight of another sequin or motif.

And, for big busts there’s a fab option so you can finally say no to heavily constructed boulder holders and go light with your lingerie.

Back in 2012 I wrote about the big comeback of Gossard‘s stylishly simple Glossies range which was a bit hit in the 1990s.  Now two years into its re-vamp, the Glossies spectrum has seen a variety of colour and style combinations in both continuity and seasonal releases, all the while boasting its chic classic design with a second skin fit.

Gossard sent me the Glossies Sheer Moulded Bra (32G) and Short (medium) in the black colourway.

Despite being labelled as a moulded bra, the sheer and unpadded bra doesn’t bear the resemblance of a typical moulded bra with cushioning.  It is very much a soft cup fabricated with a thin, rigid mesh that is constructed to fit flush and seamlessly against the skin.

The larger cups, such as my 32G, have the added benefit of an inner sling within the cups for extra support, so big boobs aren’t left high and dry in what may look like a light handle bra.

I usually go for a 30G in Gossard but I was pleased to be sent a 32G in the end as the fit is surprisingly snug (how I found Gossard’s Phoebe).  So I would say the band size runs slightly smaller than I usually find.

I love the simplistic nature of the Glossies bra.  The plunging centre makes a perfect fit for my naturally close set bust, and the slinky fabric makes it a barely there comfortable wear.

The short is a fab fit on the bottom and feels easy to wear.  Quite a bit on the low side for my own comfort but is a perfect option for when wearing ultra low clothing.

I was hoping to try the deep short which is a retro looking big knicker, but sadly it seems to be discontinued for the forthcoming season, so I was a little gutted about that!  I shall be cruising sale racks to pick up last chance purchases with the hope Gossard with re-introduce the 50s glam pants.

Glossies are a far cry from Gossard’s usual, glam fare, but it’s a solid addition to any lingerie collection for when the want or need for simple, natural feeling underwear arises; ideal when all you want to do is blow away the end of year glitter and cobwebs.

If you’re still looking for the deep brief, it is available on Gossard’s website in both a few different sizes! 🙂 I’ve been looking at the new neon pink color for the Glossies set, deciding whether to buy it and I saw the briefs so I thought I’d mention them.
