ALL ABOUT YOU | 5 Lingerie Sets You Need To Treat Yourself To Today

February 15, 2019
I realised today, I’m not that great at looking after myself. I stress about the day before it’s begun; what I haven’t done yet and how I’ll survive the day, and I’m endlessly sweating the small stuff. You’d think looking after yourself would come naturally but the reality is, when you’re responsible for keeping plates spinning you’re left flagging behind and in dire need of personal TLC.

I’ve always found treating myself to some new clothes an instant feel good fix, and lingerie can have the most profound effect. Certainly, old and worn out, and more so, ill fitting and poorly suited lingerie can cause the most detriment, so no surprise that a little bit of wire and lace that looks amazing and fits you like a dream can make you feel pretty stonking good about yourself.

Now Valentine’s Day has been and gone, did it leave you feeling particularly special? If not, maybe it’s time to invest in yourself for a change? Allow yourself to take that day off, go for a spa treatment, buy that gorgeous lingerie just because it’s pretty.

As ever, Brastop is one of the best places to shop for all kinds of fuller busted lingerie. There’s always plenty styles to choose from, newly released ranges and bargain buys that it’s always my first port of call when I fancy a new bra. So, I’ve collaborated with Brastop once again, this time bringing you my choice line up of the best lingerie sets to treat yourself to right now.

Because yes lady, you are worth it!

Curvy Kate Victory Viva Bra & Brief

Curvy Kate’s Victory Viva is a contemporary styled lingerie set perfect for the days when you need a little pick me up. If lingerie was likened to friends, Victory Viva would be the leader of the pack: headstrong and confident, a little bit sexy and a whole lot of fun!

Featuring contrasting black strappy detail and a fuller bust friendly balcony style bra, cool mint Victory Viva is a trend responsive collection that fully delivers on fit. Boasting a beautiful rounded shape with amazing lift, the bra’s unpadded cups adds a natural silhouette to the look, while the softest fine mesh fabric makes Victory Viva a beautiful set that wears comfortably against the skin. If you’re looking for a truly modern sexy style with high performance functionality, then Victory Viva is for you.

The 30H bra and size 14 short brief fit me absolutely perfectly. The fully adjustable shoulder straps and the broad band allow the bra to fit nice and snugly with no digging in or nipping, and the brief has a lovely medium rise sitting nicely around the hips. The breathable transparency of the fabric makes this set really comfortable to wear and because it’s so light and minimalistic, it’s feels like next to nothing.

Pour Moi Madison Bra & Brief

Nothing says ultimate girly chic like a polka dot print does. Pour Moi’s long time favourite collection, Madison, takes it up a notch with the gorgeous new black and gold colour combo. It’s pretty unusual for fuller bust bras to look so similar in design to a sub G cup style, yet Pour Moi always manages to nail it and Madison is one of those timeless beauties we all love.

In a glossy woven fabric, Madison’s polka dots blend seamlessly with gorgeously soft stretch lace and finished off with bold centre bows. With a fairly slim band for a three hook column bra, the bra offers moderate support without the broad fastenings. The brief takes on a low rise bikini style, medium cut on the leg creating a delicate look.

I found the best fitting size for me was the 32GG bra with the 14 brief. Pour Moi bands tend to run a little small which is why I can get away with wearing a 32, although the shape of the cups, which has an almost flattening effect, doesn’t particularly suit me all that well (unlike the Pour Moi Ditto that I reviewed which gives me a rounded shape.) It’s still a really lovely bra though and worn with the brief looks pretty cute.

Flirtelle Swirl Bra & Brief

There’a always a place for white lingerie but staple colours can often look a little drab, so you need a bit of fancy detail to liven it up. Flirtelle’s Swirl collection provides that classic style but with a pretty twist.

Swirl’s embroidered lace balcony bra and super soft stretch fabric makes this is highly comfortable yet attractive set. The woven panel across the top of the cups and to the front of the brief has a luxury swirl pattern against a delicate transparent lace, so it’s a truly sumptuous look. The main body of the fabric is super stretchy with a microfibre touch that feels silky soft.

I found the 32GG bra and the 14 brief were the best fit for me, providing a really relaxed feeling lingerie set. The bra underwiring doesn’t come up as high as some balcony bras which I find refreshing for a change. The resulting shape is quite natural and wears comfortably as an everyday (but pretty!) style.

Curvy Kate In Love With Lace Babydoll & Brief

If you’re convinced you don’t like babydolls or just have a negative opinion on them, hear me out. Curvy Kate’s In Love With Lace babydoll is a thoroughly modern take on the retro classic lingerie piece, and this little beauty just loves curves!

Firstly, what I love about this babydoll is that the bra top is exactly the same style as the bra version; it features the same plunging underwired cups, the same sumptuous lace detailing and the exact same little peek-a-boo hole in the centre front. The vibrant pink looks striking against the all black babydoll, and with a sheer mesh skirted body, it’s a gorgeous little piece that’s provocatively stylish.

I generally find babydolls smaller in the band compared to their bra counterparts, and the In Love With Lace babydoll is no different. While I wore a 30H in the Victory Viva (above), the 32GG was the better size in this case, fitting me just as perfectly. I actually prefer a plunge style even more so than a balcony, so this style feels like a dream to wear. Worn with the size 14 suspender brief beneath, it felt like the perfect pairing. These stunning knickers have a super comfy shape, hugging your hips and bum, while the optional suspender clips allow for the full stockinged lingerie look.

Freya Starlight Bra & Brief

Red lingerie is another classic colour that’s probably little respected for it’s versatility as well as it’s amorous appeal. Little known fact, but red is actually one of the best colours to wear underneath clothing since it mimics skin colour better than a white bra. But let’s not detract from how simply beautiful this shade of red is!

With a self patterned spot design on rigid cut and sewn cups, Freya’s balcony Starlight follows the brand’s more minimal styles bearing no lace trim whatsoever, but allowing the satisfyingly full and supportive shape of the bra to do the talking. Perfect for the heavier bust, Starlight’s broad band and wide shoulder straps make wearing this bra weightless and super comfy.

The 30H bra offers me a super supportive fit while projecting a round, lifted shape. The fully adjustable straps means I can get the fit as perfect as I need, as I like straps tight but not to do the holding up. The band wears nice and snugly on the first hook of the band, and while I find the wires slightly too wide and high for my shape, the overall effect is a firm hold with smooth contour. The co-ordinating size 14 brief is a lovely feeling pair of knickers. With a stretch light handle fabric on the reverse of the brief, they fit gently and with a fluid line, making it the ideal seamless brief.

What do you think of these sets? What piece is lingerie is your wardrobe most lacking right now?

Surprisingly, I have not yet purchased lingerie through Brastop, but I am loving the looks of the lingerie sets from Brastop that you were photographed modelling so beautifully above.
I LOVE babydolls! That Curvy Kate In Love With Lace Babydoll and Brief looks extremely pretty. I visited Brastop’s U.S. website to look at babydolls, and love the colour and look of the fabric of the Curvy Kate Flamingo Pink Can Can Plunge Longline Babydoll currently on sale there.
The fabric of the Flirtelle Swirl bra and brief looks satiny and pretty, and I LOVE the look of that Freya Starlight bra and brief set! I also love the polka-dot print on the Pour Moi Madison bra and brief set.

Glad you like them! Brastop’s always worth a look, I find they’re very good for picking up older styles I’ve missed out on when they first came out elsewhere. You should definitely order the babydoll, Curvy Kate does babydolls well!

Becky, I love the look of the Freya Startlight on you (well everything looks good on you)! I’m trying to decide if it will provide the right amount of support I need. I am worried about the under wires fitting properly as you mentioned. I wish I could get your opinions based on my body size what others you might recommend?
