May 12, 2018

Back before my child was even born I knew chronic pain would make motherhood tricky for me.  Chronic illness is a fact of life for me – I’ve had fibromyalgia for over a decade and joint hypermobility syndrome (JHS) since my teens – so I […]

Raynaud’s Disease: How it Affects Me

October 14, 2012

Sean J Connolly Photography I’ve been a bit hesitant about writing this one.  It was actually my other half who suggested I write a piece about this.  Modelling lingerie and showing myself off semi clothed is something that’s not a huge deal to me, I […]

When Santa came 🎅 ✨ Christmas morning surpr When Santa came 🎅 ✨

Christmas morning surprises and delights. Plenty gaming joy, Hot Wheels and cute stuff for little man and some amazing Lego sets were found in mum and dad’s present piles!

We found an über festive cake shop. 🍰 Full on We found an über festive cake shop. 🍰 Full on Christmas vibes and seriously good patisserie delights! 🤤

We decided to go to church’s second Christmas special service over in Barnard Castle and had a little time beforehand for a bit of shopping and go for a hot chocolate. And cakes too it transpired. Reuben chose a Bounty cake, Sean went for an apricot and mango cake and I got the fun (and yummy) Rudolph eclair. It’s nice to find new little gems. 😊

Is everyone managing to find moments to chill out this crazy week? 🎄

Well this week was fun! 🤩 ✨ I won a night out Well this week was fun! 🤩 ✨ I won a night out to see the Royal Northern Sinfonia at the Glasshouse (formerly the Sage) in Gateshead followed by a stay at @innside_by_melia_uk hotel across the Tyne on Newcastle’s side of the quayside. So that’s what we did!

The Christmas concert was presented by tv’s Matt Baker and was AMAZING. The orchestra and choirs were so good. My favourite pieces were the Polar Express suite (the instrumental What Christmas Means to Me is so precious), Troika! They played Troika! (LONGtime fave) Loved that there was some John Rutter and the singalong songs were so fun. Honestly, goosebumps were out.

It was fun and games with our hotel stay though, because we almost didn’t have our bed for the night! 😱 Turned out the hotel room hadn’t been booked for us and we were technically on the streets with our suitcases. Actual nightmare. And we ended up with no time for dinner so we didn’t eat until nearly midnight, trekking up into the toon in my heels, in the rain, almost crying. LOL. (Love a bit of drama me 😆) Luckily the hotel had a cancellation and our night was saved. The room was super nice and the bed was insanely comfy. Followed it up with the first ‘Spoons breakfast of my life and I was impressed. So we had a lot of fun this week. Oh and Reuben ended up scoring the last day of school off because of car trouble. Happy Christmas Chaos! 🤪🤣

Took us all the way up to Belsay Hall in Northumberland to find the big old man and a fabulous vintage treat it was. Parlour games, wooden toys and lots of extravagant festive decoration.

Day out at Beamish on Saturday which was the best day of the weekend. Mostly bright and not too cold. Spent our time round the 1900s pit village where we got hot cheese and onion pasties and sausage rolls from the sinkers bait cabin and went to school. Looked in the toy shop and played in the park at the 50s area, surprised by a passing Father Christmas in a horse drawn carriage. Reuben loved the bank and seeing the old money in the 1800s town (which the bank teller didn’t seem to be amused with for some grumpy reason). Listened a little to the visiting Prudhoe brass band and just enjoyed a little rambling mooch. Didn’t feel *as festive* as previous years but a cute day out all the same. 🎄
