Summertime Sadness | Freya Daydreamer

September 22, 2014

September marks the season of change, with echos of sunshine from the departing summer gently warming the fading flora.  It’s all a little sad; admitting this is the end of everything light, bright and free-spirited.

We have a gorgeous Summer to be thankful for, despite having had a defunct August, most of this Summer was beautiful, hot and everything flourished – my mood with it.  So we’d be forgiven for wanting to squeeze more out of the season of the sun.

The new lingerie collection by full bust favourite Freya called Daydreamer epitomises the hazy late Summer feeling; the warm glow of an Indian Summer; a low, deep sun energising everything alive one last time.

The pretty Daydreamer is light and cheerful, with a soft floral colour palette of pinks and oranges, and playful spots against a cream base.  Pencil sketches and flowing handwriting fill the pattern – suggesting a dreamy afternoon laying in a park amidst late blooming flowers, writing poetry.

I was sent Daydreamer in a 28H bra from Freya HQ, along with a size 12 brief.  The balcony style bra is based upon one of Freya’s regular designs, similar in fabric type and construction to past season Totally Tartan.

The super fine fabric feels soft and silky with the reverse of the unpadded cups revealing the rigid mesh.  The construction is reassuringly strong, and a firm 3 hooks wide band confirms its power.

The busy print allows for a design free of lace.  Only a simple picot trim to the edges and under band and cute double buttons to the central gore and the brief in place of any bow makes for a fresh, modern look.  It’s youthful and pretty without fuss.

The set fits well, though I do add a band extender for extra comfort, as these days I’m wearing a 30 band more.  Perhaps my favourite aspect is the strapping of the bra.  The fully adjustable straps are so microfibre soft with non irritating seams that they make wearing the bra a dream.  Pretty much a bra you could daydream in, I guess.
