Freya Lingerie | ‘Soiree Lace’ Fuller Bust Bra Set

November 27, 2017

Great fitting bras have been thin on the ground for me lately.  You’d think as a lingerie blogger I’d be so inundated with fabulous lingerie that my underwear draw would be bursting at the seams – it is, but not with anything I can wear.  I’m ankle deep in bras that I don’t fit into anymore, bras I’m sick of the sight of and bras that I’ve bought hoping would fit but don’t.  The thing is, having a child changes you and that changes everything, your shape and now, as a PMTing, hormonal, new mum of an 8 month old, your patience.  I needed hot new lingerie to make me feel amazing, ASAP.

* PR GIFTED BY BRASTOP.COM / FREYA SOIREE SET

I hadn’t worn Freya Lingerie since before my pregnancy so I wasn’t so familiar with their most recent collections.  Then I saw a tweet shared by Brastop.com – it was the release of Freya’s newest collection, Soiree Lace, and it was a-maz-ing.  I was overdue an awesome bra set to re-ignite my lingerie passion so the stunning Soiree appeared at just the right time.

Brastop came to my rescue and posted me two of Freya’s Soiree Lace styles to try: the Padded Plunge which I was most excited about, and the High Apex Plunge that came recommended by Brastop.  Having tried them both on I ended up falling in love with the High Apex in a 30H (together with the large size Brief) and because it was so unexpected to me, I’ve decided to pick this one to review.

THE STYLE

Freya’s Soiree Lace High Apex bra is a stunning design offering the wonderful mix of fantastic shape and premium styling. Combining daring transparency with a fashion forward aesthetic, Soiree Lace is one super sexy bra that looks as gorgeously divine as it fits.

The black High Apex bra boasts a generously shaped cup that, although not as low cut as a typical plunge bra, has a lower centre gore than a balcony bra.  The sheer mesh cup, partially covered by a floating geometric lace overlay, creates an illusion open plunge, seductively exposing flesh without wholly revealing.

Freya’s straps are entirely elasticated so there’s no taut fabric digging in over the shoulder, and they’re a decent length and tension too so they don’t make the bra’s whole fit bouncy, as can happen with some other bras.  The bra fastens on a narrow double hook and eye closure, and even on the higher end of the cup spectrum at a 30H the straps maintain a fashionable 1.5cm width, finishing off the slim lines of the design.

THE FIT

When I first tried the Soiree Lace in the high apex style I was really surprised it suited me so well, as opposed to the padded plunge which is the shape I usually go for.  While the high apex bra is more enclosed than the padded plunge, it still has a lovely centre placement that isn’t as high in a typical balcony.  This means my close set bust isn’t forced to separate so crudely and abnormally for me.  The deep cups are generous enough to make me feel totally encapsulated without the wiring coming up too high beneath the armpit, which is a pet hate of mine that crops up far too often in a lot of full bust bras.  The bra feels totally supportive with a gently rounded shape that looks and feels natural.

The Soiree Lace brief sits ultra low on the tummy and cut relatively high on the hip, projecting a look that’s super sexy whilst being totally wearable.  Featuring discreet side panels of sheer mesh, the brief plays heavily on the geometric styling and transparency allowing your skin to show through to create a fantastic design display to the reverse.  So if you like your knickers loud and flashy, you’ll particularly enjoy the Soiree Lace brief.

The large size is a perfect fit for me, which equates to a UK 14.  The broad bottom coverage makes the brief feel a dream to wear, and due to the light handle and textured pattern of the lace, together with its minimalistic elastic-free legs, it grips and stays in place. Worn with the Soiree Lace bra, the co-ordinating brief finishes off the stunning set with glamour and exuberance.

Soiree Lace is one of Freya’s most beautiful lines from their AW17 collection and is, in my opinion, the best the brand’s produced in a long, long time.  The design is stunning and so well constructed that it flatters and looks great on larger breasts as it does smaller boobs – this in itself proves what a success Soiree Lace is.  If you’re looking for something that caters to your full bust and looks super stylish and bang on trend, you wouldn’t go far wrong with this hot little set.
